Three useful promotion widgets for Magneto...

Promotional products slider

Displays saleable products from given category one at a time.

I have created inactive category with products, which I would like to promote on the frontpage

Lets insert the widget to home page

Choose E-Abi Category Slider

Layout xml not required!

Three widths available (900px, 685px, 475px)

Has category picker!

Displays one product at a time

Result is cached for 10 minutes for faster loading.....

Clicking on "View More" takes to Product detail view...

Can auto-detect current page layout and set its width accordingly

Slider is now 685px wide instead of 900px before

Product attribute slider
Displays specified attribute values from given category

Lets display all the manufacturers in given category...

Attribute code: eabi_vendorId

Supports select and multiselect

Needs to be: Filterable (with results)

Any product attribute that meets those specifications can be displayed in the slider....
Color, screen, RAM, etc....

Lets insert the Attribute value promotion widget....

Pick: E-Abi Attribute Slider

Here goes attribute code: eabi_vendorId

Here they are....

Clicking on the company name resulted in 404, that is because the category is inactive....
Lets activate the category....

We also need layout xml for the category to make the filter work, lets copy it from the Attribute Slider.....

Refresh the 404 page....

It works!

Names can be replaced with logos...
They have css class in form:
attr_name-in-lower-case

attr_2direct
attr_a-data
attr_a4tech
attr_absolute
attr_acer
attr_acme

I replace Acer with logo:
Logo has to be 27x92px (height x width)

Add the following css:

span.attr_acer {
    background: url('../images/companies/acer-logo.png');
    font-size: 0;
    border: 0 none !important;
}

Looks nice....

You can choose not do display the numbers.....

Hide the numbers.....

Looks astonishing....

Automatically changes width based on layout.....

Displays random saleable product with special price from given category.

Choose: E-Abi small specialoffer widget

Looks small and cute....

This module works with Magento 1.3 if you use html blocks instead of widgets.
